EZRAP™ Insulation Guide
Field‑Cut Fibreglass Blanket for Wrap‑Only Configurations
Insulation Type (Required)
- Material: Flexible fibreglass insulation blanket
- Facing: Unfaced or compatible industrial facing
- Form: Blanket insulation suitable for cutting and wrapping
Rigid insulation, foam insulation, or spray‑applied insulation is not recommended for use with EZRAP™ wrap‑only products.
Minimum Insulation Thickness
- Minimum required thickness: 1 in (25 mm) fibreglass blanket
This minimum thickness aligns with standard industrial removable insulation practices and provides effective condensation control and heat‑loss reduction for most low‑ and medium‑temperature applications.
Thermal Performance (Reference)
- Maximum thermal conductivity (k‑factor): 0.26 or lower
- Typical k‑factor reference: 0.26 at 75 °F (24 °C)
Lower k‑factor values indicate better insulating performance.
Fire Performance (Reference)
When fire performance is required, insulation should meet:
- Flame spread: ≤ 25
- Smoke developed: ≤ 50
- Test method: ASTM E84
Actual system fire performance is dependent on insulation selection, thickness, and installation.
High‑Temperature & Thick Insulation Applications
For fittings where:
- Operating temperature exceeds 250 °F (121 °C), and
- EZRAP products to be used are made from DuPont Tychem™, or
- Total insulation thickness exceeds 1.5 in (38 mm)
Use multiple layers of fibreglass blanket insulation beneath the EZRAP™ wrap to achieve the required thickness and performance.
Multiple layers may be stacked to achieve:
- Increased thermal resistance
- Improved temperature control
- Better system durability
For elevated-temperature applications or where insulation thickness greater than 1 in (25 mm) is required, consider using FR / FR+ systems to achieve required thermal performance.
Cutting & Installation Guidelines
- Cut insulation to fully wrap the valve, union, or service point + a minimum overlap of 1”
- Ensure insulation fits snugly without compression gaps
- Butt or overlap insulation joints as required for full coverage
- Avoid leaving exposed metal surfaces beneath the wrap
EZRAP™ wraps are designed to compress slightly to accommodate insulation while maintaining a clean outer finish.
Cutting Reference
Use the EZRAP™ cutting charts below to determine:
- EZRAP Size = Required insulation width
- Wrap length = Required insulation length
Important Notes
- Insulation performance is based on manufacturer‑published data
- Final system temperature rating is governed by the lowest‑rated component
- Installer is responsible for verifying insulation suitability for the application
